Siri Issues and complaints
Don't get me wrong, when Siri is functioning correctly, it's great. But when it only works about 30% of the time, it doesn't instill much confidence in the user.
Most of Siri's issues seem to stem from the fact that it runs off of a server and needs a connection to run commands. This means that I can't set my alarm clock if I'm camping outside cell phone range. It's also subject to all the issues that can affect a server to phone connection, which manifests itself regularly in the time I've had the phone.
Also maybe my phone is defective, but it rarely ever seems to activate when I put it next to my ear. While this should work every time, it rarely does.
Some android devs have already gotten a rough Siri copy working, so it will be interesting if their version will also be server driven. It seems like there should be offline Siri logic, and online Siri logic (only connect when querying the web).
Here's a video demonstration of me showing my complaints with the program:
Tow company damage?
My car got towed yesterday. When I picked it up late at night I used my phone flashlight to inspect the car and found multiple scratches. The front bumper near the fog light was also smacked pretty bad.
Time to file a claim!
Renton Match 10-23-2011
Had a fun but very frustrating match today.
This is my third match with the XDm 5.25. The first two matches I had some difficulty getting used the new magwell profile and trigger, of which the former I have down well now. Mag changes are better but still not optimum.
Some kind of dirt/rocks/plastic got jammed in my magazine release and made the release extremely had to activate today. Not only did I jack up my thumb but I probably added near 20 seconds of stage time fighting with it. I've since blasted the whole thing out and fixed it (for now). This along with 3 stovepipes is making me not confident at all in this gun. I've decided I'm going to give it another match week to see how it runs and if that goes badly I'll sell it.
I still managed to come in 7th out of 24 production shooters.
XDm production ready
My new production gun is finally complete! I switched from the shadow to the XDm 5.25.
Changes include a Springer Precision mag release, 14 pound Wolff spring, Springer Precision 1.9 ounce tungsten guide rod insert, and a new .100 front sight from Dawson precision.
BCM gunfighter latch
My new BCM gunfighter (corny) latch arrived today seen below.
This latch takes the stress off the small roll pin in the stock latch and redesigns it to make it thicker and much stronger.
After installing and playing with it for only a minute it's pretty obvious that this is something that vastly improves the design for any user. You can now pull it straight back without any side force needed. It's also much quicker to access without being in the way.
Seattle in Autumn
It's that time of the year again. I love the way Western Washington feels during this season.
I took a couple pics walking to the bus stop today. Living the gray life!
